Smithsonian’s Our Shared Future: Reckoning with Our Racial Past – Social Media

DM.Experiential created custom initiative branding for all initiative deliverables including social media, to attract attention to the messaging, differentiate it from everyday social posts, and still fit in with the global brand.  The initiative brand story captures the systemic nature of racism using familiar shapes and color.

We created Smithsonian artifact-focused posts from across museum holdings. The brand story was recognizable and patterned, distinguishing an initiative post from a daily post without disrupting daily programming.

The overall design elements were flexible and varied and prominent in promotions on The Smithsonian Channel and Smithsonian Magazine promoting the initiative.
